المصدر 24 - في خطوة قد تغيّر طريقة تفاعل الأطفال مع العالم الرقمي، أعلنت الحكومة الدنماركية عن خططها لحظر استخدام مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي للأطفال دون سن 15 عامًا، مع فتح باب الاستثناء للآباء الذين يمكنهم منح أبنائهم من سن 13 عامًا حق الوصول إلى بعض المنصات.
تأتي هذه الخطوة في أعقاب دعوة رئيسة الوزراء ميت فريدريكسن في خطابها الافتتاحي أمام البرلمان الشهر الماضي لفرض قيود على استخدام الأطفال لمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي نظرًا لمخاوف تتعلق بالصحة النفسية للشباب.
ولم يتضح على الفور كيفية تطبيق مثل هذا الحظر، وتمنع الكثير من منصات التكنولوجيا بالفعل الأطفال دون سن المراهقة من إنشاء حسابات. ويشير المسؤولون والخبراء إلى أن هذه القيود لا تكون فعّالة دائمًا.
وقالت وزيرة الرقمنة كارولين ستاج أولسن: «ما يُسمى بوسائل التواصل الاجتماعي تزدهر بسرقة وقت أطفالنا وطفولتهم ورفاهيتهم ونحن نضع حدًا لذلك الآن».
وأضافت أولسن 94% من الأطفال الدنماركيين دون سن 13 لديهم حساب على منصة تواصل اجتماعي واحدة على الأقل، وأكثر من نصف الأطفال دون سن 10 لديهم حسابات أيضًا.
وأكدت غالبية الأحزاب في البرلمان الدنماركي دعمها للخطة قبل التصويت الرسمي.
وقالت الحكومة إن المنصات الأكثر استخدامًا من قبل الأطفال في الدنمارك تشمل سناب شات ويوتيوب وإنستغرام وتيك توك.
ووفقًا لتحليل أجرته هيئة المنافسة والمستهلك الدنماركية في فبراير من هذا العام، يقضي الشباب في الدولة الاسكندنافية في المتوسط ساعتين و40 دقيقة يوميًا على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.
وتتبع الدنمارك خطوات أستراليا، التي فرضت العام الماضي حظرًا على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي للأطفال دون سن 16 عامًا.
In a move that could change the way children interact with the digital world, the Danish government has announced its plans to ban the use of social media for children under the age of 15, while allowing exceptions for parents who can grant their children aged 13 and older access to certain platforms.
This step follows Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's call in her opening speech to parliament last month to impose restrictions on children's use of social media due to concerns regarding the mental health of young people.
It was not immediately clear how such a ban would be enforced, as many technology platforms already prevent children under the teenage years from creating accounts. Officials and experts point out that these restrictions are not always effective.
Digitalization Minister Caroline Stagg Olsen said, "What is called social media thrives on stealing our children's time, childhood, and well-being, and we are putting a stop to that now."
Olsen added that 94% of Danish children under the age of 13 have an account on at least one social media platform, and more than half of children under 10 also have accounts.
The majority of parties in the Danish parliament have expressed their support for the plan ahead of the official vote.
The government stated that the most commonly used platforms among children in Denmark include Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
According to an analysis conducted by the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority in February of this year, young people in the Scandinavian country spend an average of two hours and 40 minutes daily on social media.
Denmark is following in the footsteps of Australia, which imposed a ban on social media for children under the age of 16 last year.
