المصدر 24 - ينطلق معرض الكويت الدولي للكتاب في دورته الـ48 تحت شعار «عاصمة الثقافة.. وطن الكتاب»، الأربعاء القادم، بمشاركة 611 دار نشر من 33 دولة عربية وأجنبية.

وأوضحت الأمين العام المساعد لقطاع الثقافة بالمجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والآداب عائشة المحمود أن دورة المعرض الجديدة تتزامن مع احتفاء الكويت باختيارها عاصمة للثقافة والإعلام العربي لعام 2025.

وأضافت: تنظم الكويت للمرة الأولى حفلا خاصا لافتتاح المعرض، الثلاثاء القادم، بحضور وزيري الإعلام الكويتي والعماني، إذ يشهد الحفل تكريم سلطنة عمان ضيفَ شرف هذه الدورة؛ تقديرا لدورها الثقافي المتميز في مسيرة الثقافة العربية.

كما تحتفي هذه الدورة برئيس جامعة السلطان قابوس السابق مؤسس «بيت الزبير» محمد بن الزبير، الذي اختير «الشخصية الثقافية» للمعرض هذا العام.

وقال مدير المعرض خليفة الرباح: طلبات المشاركة هذا العام تجاوزت 1100 دار نشر، مشيرا إلى اختيار الدور المتميزة التي ترفع من مستوى المعرض، إذ بلغ عددها 433 دارا للمشاركة المباشرة، و178 للمشاركة عبر توكيل، ليصل المجموع إلى 611 دارا، بزيادة 67 دار نشر عن الدورة السابقة.

وأضاف: بلغ عدد عناوين الكتب المسجلة في المعرض 287 ألف عنوان، جميعها متاحة ضمن نظام البحث الآلي، منها نحو 35 ألف عنوان حديث يعود إلى 2025، مشيرا إلى أن المعرض سيحتضن في دورته الحالية البرنامج المهني للناشرين العرب، بمشاركة 84 دار نشر، ويهدف إلى دعم صناعة النشر وتطويرها.

ويشمل برنامج المعرض، الممتد حتى الـ29 من نوفمبر الجاري 120 فعالية، تتضمن حلقة نقاشية بعنوان «آفاق الترجمة الأدبية.. سعاد الصباح نموذجا»، وجلسة حوارية بعنوان «صناعة النشر.. بين شغف الكلمة وتحديات السوق»، ومحاضرة بعنوان «تطور الفكر العربي من منظور غربي».

The 48th Kuwait International Book Fair will kick off next Wednesday under the slogan "Capital of Culture... Homeland of the Book," with the participation of 611 publishing houses from 33 Arab and foreign countries.

The Assistant Secretary-General for the Culture Sector at the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, Aisha Al-Mahmoud, explained that this new edition of the fair coincides with Kuwait's celebration of being chosen as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for the year 2025.

She added: For the first time, Kuwait will organize a special opening ceremony for the fair next Tuesday, attended by the ministers of information from Kuwait and Oman, where the ceremony will honor the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor for this edition, in appreciation of its distinguished cultural role in the journey of Arab culture.

This edition will also celebrate the former President of Sultan Qaboos University and founder of "Bayt Al-Zubair," Mohammed bin Al-Zubair, who has been chosen as the "Cultural Personality" of the fair this year.

The fair's director, Khalifa Al-Rabbah, stated that the number of participation requests this year exceeded 1,100 publishing houses, noting the selection of distinguished houses that elevate the level of the fair, with 433 houses participating directly and 178 participating through agencies, bringing the total to 611 houses, an increase of 67 publishing houses from the previous edition.

He added: The number of registered book titles at the fair has reached 287,000 titles, all available within the automated search system, including about 35,000 new titles from 2025, pointing out that the fair will host in its current edition a professional program for Arab publishers, with the participation of 84 publishing houses, aimed at supporting and developing the publishing industry.

The fair's program, which extends until November 29, includes 120 events, including a discussion panel titled "Horizons of Literary Translation... Soad Al-Sabah as a Model," a dialogue session titled "The Publishing Industry... Between the Passion for Words and Market Challenges," and a lecture titled "The Development of Arab Thought from a Western Perspective."
