وبحسب ما نشره الفنان إدوارد على حسابه في موقع «فيسبوك»، فقد تجاوب فورًا مع المناشدة الإنسانية، وأرسل مبلغًا ماليًا عبر خدمة الدفع الإلكتروني «إنستا باي»، قبل أن يتفاجأ بأن صاحب الرقم قام بحظره مباشرة بعد التحويل، لتتعزز شكوكه حول وقوعه في فخ مدبّر.

وفور اكتشاف الخدعة، تواصل الفنان إدوارد مع الفنان الشاب شادي خفاجة للتأكد من حقيقة الأمر، ليكشف الأخير أنّ أحد المحتالين انتحل صفته سابقًا، وتواصل مع عدد من الفنانين لاستغلال تعاطفهم وجمع مبالغ مالية بطرق احتيالية.

وحذّر الفنان إدوارد جمهوره من هذه الرسائل التي تنتحل شخصيات عامة لتحقيق مكاسب غير شرعية، مشددًا على أنّ بعض المحتالين يستخدمون الخطاب الإنساني كأداة فعّالة للإيقاع بضحاياهم، وأن الظاهرة باتت تنتشر بوتيرة مقلقة.

من جانبه، أعلن الفنان شادي خفاجة عبر حسابه الرسمي بدء اتخاذ إجراءات قانونية لملاحقة أي شخص ينتحل اسمه أو يتواصل مع الآخرين بغرض الاحتيال، مؤكدًا ضرورة التأكد من هوية أي رقم قبل تحويل الأموال إليه، خصوصاً أنّ رقمه المعروف لم يتغير منذ سنوات.

وفي سياق آخر، شارك الفنان إدوارد متابعيه عدداً من النصائح الصحية بعد تعافيه من وعكة شديدة خضع خلالها لعدة عمليات، مؤكدًا أنّ التزامه بشرب الماء وتناول الغذاء الصحي والمشي يوميًا كان له تأثير إيجابي واضح على حالته.

An anonymous message received by Egyptian artist Edward on his phone turned into the beginning of an electronic fraud incident that made him a victim of his compassion, after the sender claimed to be artist Shadi Khafaja and stated that he was going through tough circumstances and could not find food for his children, urgently requesting any financial assistance.

According to what Edward posted on his Facebook account, he immediately responded to the humanitarian appeal and sent a sum of money via the electronic payment service "InstaPay," only to be surprised that the owner of the number blocked him right after the transfer, reinforcing his suspicions that he had fallen into a trap.

As soon as he discovered the trick, Edward contacted young artist Shadi Khafaja to verify the truth of the matter, revealing that one of the fraudsters had previously impersonated him and contacted several artists to exploit their sympathy and collect money through fraudulent means.

Edward warned his audience about these messages that impersonate public figures to achieve illegal gains, emphasizing that some fraudsters use humanitarian discourse as an effective tool to ensnare their victims, and that the phenomenon has become alarmingly widespread.

For his part, artist Shadi Khafaja announced through his official account that he has begun taking legal action to pursue anyone who impersonates his name or contacts others for fraudulent purposes, stressing the importance of verifying the identity of any number before transferring money to it, especially since his known number has not changed for years.

In another context, Edward shared with his followers a number of health tips after recovering from a severe illness during which he underwent several surgeries, confirming that his commitment to drinking water, eating healthy food, and walking daily had a clear positive impact on his condition.
